Frontiers Lab was built on the shared vision of a sustained, collaborative effort to solve systemic challenges for small and growing businesses in Asia.

We believe that resilient, inclusive and vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystems are essential in creating sustainable economies and more equal societies.

Through a coordinated, design-led process, we supported the development of solutions to strengthen these entrepreneurial ecosystems. In turn, this empowered more diverse local businesses to grow and deliver social, environmental and economic impact in their communities.

This was achieved through a five step process:

IDENTIFY

1. Identify and analyse the systemic challenges facing small and growing businesses (SGBs) and entrepreneur support organisations (ESOs) in the region through research and engagement with existing networks.

COMPLETE
SOURCE

2. Source expressions of interest for Frontiers Lab teams and the network of advisors and experts who will support them.

COMPLETE

SCOPE

3. Scope solutions in a first sprint phase. Develop detailed plans that include testing key assumptions and assessing the desirability, viability and feasibility of the solutions. Plans are reviewed and approved by the board.

COMPLETE
PROTOTYPE

4. Prototype solutions in a second sprint phase. Coordinators support teams to complete Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) evaluations on the prototypes. Teams develop a minimum viable product (MVP) with the support of coordinators, advisors, and the board.

COMPLETE

SCALE

5. Scale solutions for implementation via sustainable funding pathways.
